Kicks Off the 2008 Season This Weekend with the First Race of the Six Pack Shootout Series

After two consecutive weeks of bad weather, it looks like Mother Nature is finally going to loosen her grip and let the racing action get underway. The excitement has been building for the opening of the 2008 racing season at Winchester Speedway and it looks like we will finally get underway this Saturday. Not only will the season begin this Saturday, but it will begin

with the first race of the much anticipated Six Pack Shootout Series. The Super Late Model drivers will participate in a 30 lap shootout for $1,500 to win and $50 to start. There will be a $50 entry fee.

The Super Late Model drivers will time trial in groups and the top two from each group will be locked in to the feature. The remaining groups will run heat races in their groups and the top five from each group will be locked in. If necessary, a consolation race will be run to determine the remaining three to complete the field.

After the starting grid has been determined from qualifying, the top six will be inverted determined by a random draw. To sweeten the pot, Darrell Day will post $100 to any driver that can win from the sixth starting position. If it is not won this week, it will roll over to the next Six Pack Shootout race and the driver winning from the sixth spot will take home an

additional $200. The $100 bonus will roll over each time until someone wins. If no one wins from the sixth starting position throughout the series, the $600 bonus money will go into the points fund.

Also, Jackie Gifford from Jackie's Fast Tax has posted a $100 Hard Charger award to the driver advancing the most positions in the feature event. She has also purchased some beautiful trophies to go along with the cash award.

There will be games for the children to play and participate in the racing action this weekend, so let's all come out and get the 2008 racing season kicked off in style.

The Open Wheel, Mini Modified, and Front Wheel Drive classes WILL NOT be unning this weekend.
