Volunteer Speedway reschedules 'Spring Thaw' for March 21-22

BULLS GAP, Tenn. — Due to inclement weather (rain, snow, cold) in the East Tennessee region during mid-week leading up to the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series $10,000-to-win "10th Annual Spring Thaw 100," scheduled for Friday, Feb. 29 and Saturday, March 1 ... the decision has been made by track owner Joe Loven and Brad Byrd with the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series to postpone the Spring Thaw until Friday and Saturday, March 21-22.

Several factors were considered in the decision to re-schedule. The heavy amount of rain and multiple inches of snowfall over the speedway along with frigid temperatures and the impending forecast for even more rain have created a racing surface that is impossible to prep for an event this weekend.

As for the previously scheduled event at Mountain Raceway in Maryville, TN on March 22nd, Thunder Series and track officials with Mountain Raceway are currently negotiating a possible make-up date for this event and will hopefully reach a mutually agreed upon date in the near future.
