Tanner Works Wins Hobby Mid-Season Championship
CHATSWORTH, Ga. (April 25) Tanner Works made his first North Georgia Speedway Hobby win of the season pay off as the Cleveland, Tennessee hot shoe won the Hobby Mid-Season Championship Friday night.
Works, who qualified second to Greg Ledford, started on the outside front row in the 20-lap Hobby Mid-Season Championship feature. Ledford would take the early lead with Works in second and Devin Stewart in third. On the fourth circuit Works would take the lead relegating Ledford to second with Stewart, Tim Ford and Donnie Farmer rounding out the top five.
On lap 10 with Works and Ledford running one and two Stewart in third place would have problems which moved Ford and Farmer into third and fourth and David Brown into fifth. With four laps remaining Farmer would move past Ford for third. When the checkered flag fell it was Works taking the win with Ledford second, Farmer third, Ford fourth and Don Farmer fifth.
Rounding out the top 10 were Brown, Stacy Wright, Devin Stewart, Marshall Wilbanks and John Clark.
Skip Arp was the class of the Late Model field as he took the lead on the first circuit and held it to the checkered flag and a $1,200 pay day. Arp was pressured for the entire 30 laps by defending Late Model champion Gary McPherson, Aaron Ridlley. Bobby Griffin and Robert Stutts.
In Limited/Crate Late Model action Rick Hixson missed the early race carnage and held off a determined and fast Trigg Parris to take the win. Parris would pressure Hixson early then fall back to fourth before rallying back to again pressure Hixson in the waning laps. Following Hixson and Parris across the stripe were Darryl Ownbey, Phillip Anderson and Craig Burris.
Jimmy Elliott led everylap take the Pony win over Danny Burnette, last week's winner Chris DeFore, Ralph Langston and Cody Perry.
David Beam proved to have the dominant car as he led every lap to win the Econo Bomber feature. John Morrison would provide the pressure on Beam and finish second. Bill Peters was third, John Boinger fourth and Davie Price fifth.
Next Friday night, May 2, the ultra fast Late Models will top the bill with racing in Limited/Crate Late Models, Hobby, Pony and Econo Bombers.
