Bo Miller Scores First Late Model Victory Since 2004 at the Motorplex
NASHVILLE, TN – 2003 Music City Motorplex Track Champion, Bo Miller has not stepped into the famous Victory Lane at the Motorplex since 2004, but that all changed Saturday April 26 as Miller dominated the NASCAR Late Model division and returned to Victory Lane.
Mark Day and Daniel Pope brought the NASCAR Late Models down to take the green flag, but Ed McClain, TW Fisher, Mark Montgomery and Tyler Brown all went spinning in turn one right after the green flag fell resulting in a complete restart. Brown and DW Shacklett got together on the second start sending both cars hard into the wall. Jason Burchard, Josh Byrns and McClain also received damage. Once the racing got back underway, Day lead Bo Miller, Pope, Andy Johnson and Michael House. Miller took over the top position on lap four. By lap thirteen, Miller stretched his lead out to nearly two seconds over Day. Skip McCord and Chase Montgomery battled the entire race side by side for the fifth position. Miller took the checkereds for the first time since 2004 in the Late Model division at the Motorplex followed by Day, Johnson, Pope and McCord.
Lee Goddard jumped out in front at the drop of the green flag for the NASCAR Grand Nationals seventy-five lap feature. Goddard led the way followed by Wayne White, Eddie Taylor, Jeff Belt and Michael Crow. Goddard, White and Taylor ran bumper to bumper until lap forty-one when Goddard got trapped behind a lapped car coming off turn four, backing up the field. Belt caught the worst end of the deal, going hard into the outside wall. Howard Tucker and Crow both spun to avoid the accident. On the restart White led the way with Taylor, Goddard, Jeremy Adams and Crow close behind. The top five cars ran nose to tail until lap seventy-one when Crow and Adams got together sending Adams spinning. White held everyone off in the final laps, picking up his third win in a row followed by Taylor, Goddard, Tucker and Tim Haggard.
Jess Williams took the early race lead in the NASCAR Super Truck feature. Bobby Buttrey made his way around Williams on lap seven to take over the top spot. By lap twelve, Buttrey had stretched his lead to nearly two seconds over Blake Williams, Larry Ryman, Steven Meador and Jess Williams. Meador brought out the only caution of the night for a spin on the front straight away. Buttrey remained out front on the restart and took his first career victory in the NASCAR Super Trucks followed by Daniel Victory, Daniel Bolden, Blake Williams and Ryman.
Matt Barnes led the always exciting Thunderstox down to the green flag for their twenty lap feature, but Danny Wilkerson made his way into the lead on lap two. Wilkerson led the way followed by Dale Travis, Barnes, Charles Goddard Jr and Stephanie Barnes. Jeremy Newman and Travis got together on lap seventeen sending Newman’s car spinning and resulting in the only caution of the night. Wilkerson held on to take the win followed by Goddard, Matt Barnes, Joshua Hood and Cory Jones.
Giles Martin and Cody Fernett started on the front row for the Legend Semi Pro feature. Martin jumped out in front with Brandon Summers, Fernett, Travis Adcox and AJ Carlisi close behind. Martin held on to pick up his first victory of 2008 followed by Summers, Fernett, Adcox and Carlisi.
Kevin Rollins led from flag to flag to score his first Legend Pro victory of 2008 followed by Rob Sanders, Josh Berry and Tyler Cordell. Kenny Summers scored another Legend Master win followed by Ten-A-C Slatton and Kevin Riggs.
Blake Jones led from flag to flag in the Bandolero Young Guns on his first race at the Motorplex in 2008, scoring the win followed by Sean Hosey and Laura Gentry.
