Clarksville StormPay.Com Speedway Dirt Oval Summary

           Gusty winds started off the evening and once the sun went down, cooler temperature moved in; however, that didn’t stop fans from showing up and drivers putting on a great show Saturday night.  There were points and cash on the line as each driver took to the dirt oval on the first weekend in May.

           One of the features of the night was the Street division which went for 12 laps in their feature were, for the first time in a few weeks, 12 cars showed up to tear up the dirt oval.  Current point’s leader Jonathon “Jon Jon” Wix caused two cautions and was black flagged from the race with Josh Taylor from Clarksville in the # 6 taking the checker flag with Chris Peltier in the #2 taking second, who is racing his last season on the dirt oval.  The rest of the field finished with David Cline in the #4 taking 3rd place, Wendell Hodge in the #00 in 4th and Paul Smith in the #113 taking 5th place.

           Qualifying for the Pro Street took to the dirt oval with Dover Tennessee’s Anthony Jackson taking the pole position with a 15.322 for the 15 lap feature Saturday night.  As the racer’s took to the oval, it was Jackson in the #36 car taking the checker flag with Cunningham Tennessee’s Jimmie Davenport in the #81 finishing 2nd.  The rest of the field finished went to Bruce Westerman in the #80 coming in 3rd, Dale Phillips in the #87 in 4th place and Daniel Phillips in the #D99 rounding out the Top 5 positions.

           Taking a look at other division that raced on Saturday night dealt was the Crate Late Model division where the best qualifying time was the driver from Cunningham Tennessee, Duane Hodges with a 14.708.  That was all Hodges and his #117 need in the 15 lap feature as he took the checker flag with Clarksville Tennessee’s Carnell Parker III in the #75 coming in 2nd.  The rest of the field went to Caleb Ashby in the #61 in 3rd place, Charles Zimmerman in the #93 taking 4th place and current point’s leader Jason Jones in the #15 finishing in 5th place.

           The UMP division took to the track and the action started to heat up as competition started up as these drivers’s wanted the take home a victory.  The UMP Open Wheel division took to the dirt oval with qualifying with Hopkinsville Kentucky’s Gerald Hodge and his #10 machine taking the pole position with a 14.717.  However, a flat tire late in the 15 lap feature took Hodge out of the race with current point’s leader Clayton Miller from Elkton Kentucky taking the checker flag once again and Paris Tennessee’s David  Flowers in the #99 finishing 2nd.  The rest of the field went to the #17 driven my Little Mike Neighbors in 3rd place with Tony Garber in the #71 taking 4th and Kyle Gibbs in the #16 coming in 5th.  The other UMP division that raced Saturday night was the Late Model division with current point’s leader Chuck Proctor of Charlotte Tennessee taking the pole position with a 14.063.  However, pole position was not friendly to Proctor as track veteran Tony Albright from Clarksville Tennessee in the #1 Late Model machine taking the checker flag in the 20 lap feature with Proctor in the #27 coming in 2nd.  The rest of the field went to Eddie Pace in the #31 finishing in 3rd with Chris Shelton in the #16S taking 4th and Steven Ashby in the #16A rounding out the Top 5.

           The Mini’s also took to the dirt oval on Saturday night with the mini sprints, pure minis and mini modified all racing for the checker flag.  It was the Outlaw Mini’s who took to the dirt oval for a 20 lap feature with current point’s leader Justin Rapp hailing from Cunningham Tennessee in the #17R taking the checker flag with Gallatin Tennessee’s Jimmy Hale in the #H9 finishing 2nd.  The rest of the field finished with Nate Hale in the #N8 taking 3rd place and Brian Carrigan in the #66 taking 4th.  All other participants in the Mini Sprints did not finish the race.

           Other mini action from Saturday night included the Pure Mini Stock division with Clarksville Tennessee’s Michael Rittenberry in the #10 taking the checker flag with current point’s leader Jeffery “Jeff” Rittenberry from Clarksville Tennessee coming in 2nd.  The rest of the Top 5 went to Daniel Stephens in the #82X finishing in 3rd, Keith Kaylor in the #16 coming in 4th and James Scott in the #83 placing 5th.  The 12 lap Mini Modified division feature, it was Erin Tennessee’s Michael Perrigo in the #8 taking the checker with Kyle Fleming out of Ashland City Tennessee in the #1F finishing 2nd.  The rest of the Top 5 went to Adam Wright in the #66 taking 3rd, Dewayne Dew in the #20 finishing 4th and Shawn Smith in the #99 placing 5th.

           Next weekend, May 10th, all classes are racing and a special time at the racetrack for the youngsters.  During intermission, we will be conducting our Kid’s Foot Races.  We will have the races according to the child’s ages with these groups; 4-6 year olds, 7-10 year olds, 8-10 year olds and 11 and up.  Gates open up at 4 o’clock with racing action starting up around 6 P.M.  Come out and catch all the great racing action at the Clarksville StormPay.Com Speedway.  For addition information on all events taking place at the Speedway on Needmore Road, contact the office at 931-645-2523 or visit us at www.clarksvillespeedway.com
