Saturday evening turned out to be a great night to start back racing at Clarksville Speedway
With temperatures starting off in the low 60’s and sunshine breaking through the clouds, Saturday evening turned out to be a great night to get started back to racing. The evenings races were the first of the season were points were involved and the action was very hot on the dirt oval.
A 15 lap feature race began the action on Saturday night with the Pro Street Division were 9 cars started the race; however, all but 3 actually finished the race with #36 car driven by Anthony Jackson took the checker flag with #87 Dale Phillips taking 2nd and #80 Bruce Westerman in 3rd.
Our next feature race of the evening was the Crate Late Model where in lap 18 saw #29 Donald Suiters hit the front straightway wall and damaged the front end of his car. Donald was ok as his car was towed off the track and when the checker flag was waved, #56 Jeff Walston was the race winner with #18 Tait Davenport taking 2nd with #00 Timothy Harris finishing 3rd.
Open Wheel raced in 12 laps in their featured race with #8 Matt Musser taking the checker flag on the dirt oval with #78 Jonathon “Jon Jon” Wix taking 2nd with #20 Manley Wood taking home 3rd.
UMP Open Wheel had their 15 lap feature race for the first points for the season with #15 Clayton Miller putting an end to his bad luck from a couple of weeks ago by taking the checker flag with #37C Jamie Cobb taking 2nd place with #16 Kyle Gibbs your 3rd place finisher.
20 laps is what it took to have a winner in the UMP Late Model race where on lap 16 the #11 car driven by Brian Ashby flipped his car on its top; however, Brian was able to walk away unhurt from his car. Once racing started back up, it was #75 Carnell Parker III holding off the #27 driven by Chuck Proctor to take the checker flag with Proctor takes 2nd and #16A driven by Steven Ashby taking 3rd.
The Outlaw Mini Sprints took the dirt oval with #17R Justin Rapp holding out to take the checker flag with #79 driven by Tracy Wilson with #39 Brian Nance finishing 3rd. The last feature race of the evening was the Pure Mini’s were #16 driven by Keith Kaylor lead the majority of the race to take the checker flag with #10 Mike Rittenberry finishing 2nd and #84X driven by Brandon Kuck finishing 3rd.
